You live in the land known as Teratuga, an isolated collection of Islands fully inhabited by the Tortles. You’ve always lived here, generations upon generations have always lived here. A few had attempted to journey to other ‘supposed’ lands but only one Tortle has ever returned. Unfortunately, an empty shell can’t share many stories. We do know a good portion of the surrounding seas however, up to what is known as the Mistwall. This mysterious barrier not only sits upon the surface of the water but delves deep into the ocean penetrating down to the seabed itself. Thus your world map is a bit small…
While your land may be closed up behind the Mistwall, the many many islands provide all the Tortles need. You could say the tortles live in harmony both among each other and with the islands. There are of course a small band of miscreants that occasionally cause trouble, mostly just of a petty nature. However the strong majority helps and works together, listening to the wisdom of each island’s elders and following the many traditions each island holds dear.
This time of the year all the islands of Teratuga are celebrating the same thing, it is the Teratuga New Year! Everyone’s emotions are a mix of excitement, camaraderie, a bit of nervousness (no help from the frequent tremors), and eagerness for the traditional firework show. It’s the biggest event of the year where each island sets off hundreds of fireworks all at the same time, it appears to outsiders as if a volcano erupted from the center of the Mistwall.
Today is the day! And there is much to prepare for the New Year celebrations. As members of the Taartaan Council, you support Master Oogway as he leads the island’s participation in the new year festivities. He has left you a list of items that must be completed before tonight’s firework show.
